Goal Accomplished

Kentucky Bourbon Ale from Lexington Brewing Co.

Kentucky Bourbon Ale
Alltech's Lexington Brewing Co. Kentucky, USA
English Strong Ale - ABV 8.19%.
Light Amber color.
Wonderful aroma. The smell of the oak and the hint is vanilla come through very nicely. About 1 inch of head and nice lacing on the glass I love this Barrel Aged Ale. You can really taste the Bourbon and the wood with hints of Vanilla. It's smooth and just with enough Sweetness.

Uinta Hop Notch IPA American IPA

Tonight beer #101 for the year is:
Uinta Hop Notch IPA
American IPA - ABV 7.3%
Uinta Brewing Co. Utah
Pour nicely with some head and plenty lacing after first taste. Orange to copper color. Wonderful aroma. Very floral and citrus and some sweetness from the malt. The hops are wonderfully balance with bitterness that holds from beginning to end and you can taste the beer on the top of your mounts till the next swallow. All I can say for this beer is WOW. I love it more and more as I drink it's a worth IPA in my opinion you ought try this and if you don't like it just send it my way.

Beer Stout Cake

Today I had a wonderful beer stout cake. The cake had a dark malty flavor. It was very moist and tasty. I love Ashville.

Endless River from Mother Earth Brewery

Endless River
Mother Earth Brewing in North Carolina
Kolsch style - ABV 4.9% .
I get a little yeast smell and a faint fruit aroma which I can't say what kind it is and a little tang to metallic in the end.
Color is light gold with no head. I wasn't impressed by it and was surprised for the B rate by beer advocate but my friend seems to enjoy it a lot.
I can see this being a good beer for a summer day for lunch during the week. I'm a little partial to more chewy beers so that could influence my review on this.

Today's Beers are: Blanco Diablo, Farmer Ted's Farmhouse Ale, 13 Rebels E.S.B and Highland oatmeal porter.

Blanco Diablo

Farmer Ted's Farmhouse Ale
Catawba Valley Brewing Co. (NC)
Cream Ale - ABV 5.5%
You can smell the the wheat and the yeast and some hints of corn. A lite yellow color which you can see through. A little sour on the beginning with a dry finish and a little chewy which I like. A nice beer to eat pizza with or some bread.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2446/25101

13 Rebels E.S.B
French Broad Brewing Co. (NC)
Extra Special / Strong Bitter - ABV5.2%
Copper color with a good head Some fruit notes a a big malt smell Quite bitter on the beginning which I love very malty and a big hop finish which pinch you right on the face. I live this beer.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2455/17559

Highland oatmeal porter
Highland Brewing Co. (NC)
American Porter - ABV5.8%
Fairly dark with some red hue into black and a nice head as should in any Porter. On the nose you get some roast smell and some malt Strong malt and chocolate taste. This is a robust beer. Very filling and chewy. Nice bitterness with a good amount of hops. Definitely some roast chocolate and coffee in there with a strong taste finish.

Trögs Troegerator from Independent Craft Brewery and Bocks at Beer Hang out

I could not participate in the +The Beer Hangout this week. +Lee Allison looked a little tired yesterday, this as quiet as I've seen him. +Matthew Miller was doing his review and everybody was talking over him but he kept going trying to get through his assertion of his Bock.
Although I wasn't there I still had my beers.
I tried the Troegerator.
Trogs Independent Craft Brewery (PA)
Doppelbock - ABV 8%
Dark orange to amber color. Very little to no foam and some lacing on the glass. It got some what flat after a fell minutes. Lots of malt, berries, spices and alcohol on the nose.
You can get the 8.2% right away and a little scotch malt like taste and some spices . Almost like a carbonated whiskey. The taste stick with you for a while but in a good way. I like this beer. Although off season still something that would warm you on a cold day.

Founders Breakfast Stout

Founders Brewing Co. in Michigan
American Double / Imperial Stout - ABV 8.3%
Very dark Color  you can't see through the glass. A little over 2 inches of head which went away very quickly.
The aroma brings Roast coffee, chocolate, malt and a hint of vanilla
Taste a little sweet with a punch of coffee and chocolate right after the first sip. Over all an excellent beer with a great balance of sweet and bitter with a creamy and chewy texture with a medium body with a very rich taste

Magic Hat #9

So I went back tonight for more Magic Hat #9 with some new friends I met this week in Rochester, NY
Magic Hat #9
Magic Hat Brewing Co. - Vermont
Fruit / Vegetable Beer - ABV 5.10%
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/96/299/?view=beer&sort=latest&start=20

Orange color with about 2 1/2 inches of head and bit of lacing with a good carbonation.
Wonderful fruit aroma, you get peach and plum and some other pit fruits making the smell very pleasant although you can't barely get the hop on it.
Very crispy taste that goes down nice and smooth with the fruits dominating all flavors on the first sip and a dry finish well combined with the sweetness of the malt with a good body.
At first smell you expect an overly sweet beer  but get a nice surprise as you start drinking and realize the well balance fruit and sweet flavors on this beer. This is good for any day and an excellent beer to introduce your friends into craft beers.

Newcastle Brown Ale

Not my favorite but choices are not good on the beer menu at Cheesecake Factory.
Newcastle Brown Ale.
The Caledonian Brewery Company - Schotland
English Brown Ale - ABV 4.7%
Dark Orange Color with very little carbonation and no head.
All smells on this beer are very faint. You get a little bit of malt, and bit of caramel and minimum hop. Very strange in my opinion.
Sweet and toast bread taste with a very light taste for a Brown Ale. Light body and flat just after a minute in the glass. Not what I would expect from a British beer.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout

Tonight I'm in Rochester, NY at Trata Restaurant Armory.
Today's beer is Young's Double Chocolate Stout.
It's 5.2% ABV
Very dark color and not much to no head.
You can definitely taste roasted coconut and the dark chocolate, a nice rich flavor with a bitter and after a sweet flavor that feels the mouth.
Smell really sweet as well.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/664/73

Southern Tier IPA

Southern Tier IPA is triple-hopped.
Southern Tier Brewing Co. - NY
American IPA - ABV 7.3%
Very aromatic beer, a lot of citrus and tropical fruit smell many spice notes come to the nose right out of the bet. I could smell the beer for a long while before drinking it. The spices were really great. This is the kind of IPA I like slightly bitter on the beginning, fruity in the middle flavor and a nice bitter finish. Still at 7.3% I should not have had tree of this after the chocolate stout. Lets say I' m typing but my mind keep wondering away. Work tomorrow morning maybe not so pleasant.
About a finger of head at the start that went away by 1/3 down the glass. The color was a nice dark orange typical on spiced IPA.
